I am Ready & the Room is Ready For.....

Well, we finally put the finishing touches on the boys' room last night. Justin hung the letters spelling out our sons' names on the wall and he fixed the broken mobile and put it on the baby's crib. Those were the only things left on my "before-baby to-do" list. Well, I do need to pack some clothes for Anagrace and Anderson to stay at my mom's while we are in the hospital. Then, that's it!

I posted pictures of Anagrace's new loft bed a while back. And I promised then that I would post pictures of both of the completed rooms. (Her room is still not technically decorated. There are no pictures on the walls, no nick nacks, or finishing touches. That may have to be a "birthday project" for her in September!) But, I will post the pictures of the boys' room since it is all done. In doing that, the baby's name will be revealed as it is hanging on the wall above his crib...

Warning...This post contains excessive whining!

Feeling miserably huge and uncomfortably hot. Nothing fits...growing out of maternity clothes. Tired, but can't sleep because of frequent urination, night sweats and awkward sleeping positions. Body aches. Ready to get this over with! Less than two weeks to go...really nervous about adding a third child to our family!

Dunlap Syndrome

Do you know what Dunlap Syndrome is? That could be one of Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a redneck" questions. Let me explain. Dunlap Syndrome is southern slang for an expanding belly...as in "yer belly has dunlapped over yer belt". I, unfortunately, have Dunlap Syndrome.
I remember when my dad turned 50 my grandmother told him that he was approaching the time in life where he would have to decide "over or under". She was referring to whether his belt and pants would be over or under his belly. My dad's belly is not yet big enough for him to worry about that now, but if and when it is he will go under (not the same decision his father made).
Anyway, my over under decision is different and thankfully temporary. Lately, rocking Anderson is a challenge. I am not sure if I should put him under the belly. When sitting my lap is almost non-existent. Or should I put him over the belly? Then, he is almost around my neck. Either way it is awkward.

A Roomy Womb

I finally felt the baby kick 2 nights ago. I love that feeling, the feeling of my baby growing and moving inside me. I was not overly-concerned, but I was wondering why I hadn't felt movement before now.
Anagrace was the first resident of my uterus. She probably lived in pretty tight quarters, so I felt her move sooner. There was almost a 3 year vacancy period before Anderson, so I'm sure his home was quite cozy. I felt him move early on, too. But, this baby took up residence 5 months after Anderson vacated the premises. He is probably living in a much roomier womb than the previous 2 occupants. I picture him legs stretched out, hands behind his head, just chillin' saying "Ah, home sweet home" or maybe "Womb sweet womb"!
(I actually got to see him on a 4D ultrasound (it was so cool) and he was not stretched out as I pictured. I'm going to post some of those pictures as soon as I can figure out why my scanner is not working.)

Boy or Girl?

The suspense is killing me! I can't believe that I waited the entire pregnancy to find out "boy or girl" when I was pregnant with Anagrace. It is now only a week away from the big day. So, I thought it would be fun to find out what other people think I am having...boy or girl? I added a poll to the side, so please vote.

I googled old wives' tales to determine what the baby's sex will be and here is what I found at http://www.pregnancy-info.net/wives_tales_and_myths.html

And here are my results:

Heartbeats (above 140 beats per minute=girl) : Around 150-160 bpm

Cravings (sweet stuff=girl): Oreo McFlurry, egg salad, chocolate candy bars/doughnuts, wonton soup, BoBerry biscuit

Weight Gain (husband gains weight=girl): Justin has been complaining about his waistline lately.

My Face(round and rosy=girl): Round and Full

Mirror test(left breast larger=girl): They look the same to me!

Ring Test(ring on string moves in circular motion=girl): It moved back and forth over my belly in a head to toe motion.

Skin (acne=girl): Yes, pimples are appearing :(

Key Test (picking up thinner part=girl): I picked up the bottom, rounder part.

So, what do you think...Boy or Girl?

Cravings

I've had some cravings lately. Most of them seem to be for sweets, which made me think the baby may be a girl. With Anagrace the main craving I can remember is for sugary-sweet cereals, mainly Fruit Loops. I ate Fruit Loops so frequently that the roof of my mouth hurt. Why do some cereals do that? With Anderson it was beef, preferably in the form of steak or hamburgers. I would actually sneak away late afternoon for a Sonic cheeseburger snack. Embarassing!
Well today I had a strange craving for egg salad. Not sure what that means? I made myself some for lunch and it was yummy. But now that the smell of hard boiled eggs is lingering in my house, I am wishing I had not given in to that craving. Why couldn't it have been for another Oreo McFlurry? Mmmmm...Oreo McFlurry. I think I feel another craving coming on!

Girl or Boy?!

The ultrasound is scheduled for February 19th to found out if our third child is a boy or a girl. We already have one of each, so either way is fine with us. Having said that, some people have asked us if we will wait 'til the birth to find out......NO! We did wait to be surprised with our first child. The anticipation and then the excitement as "It's a girl!" was announced after she was born was wonderful. But, no, not this time. I really need to know this time. I was not prepared for this pregnancy, so I want to start planning for this baby to try and feel like I have some sort of handle on the situation. Not so much nesting as it is a need to feel in control. I will confess to you as I did at my small group last night, I have "control issues". So, there, we're finding out and the countdown is on!
